2018 TEDDY BEARS PICNIC sponsored by the Cairo Development Foundation, 11am to 3pm at Three Bears Picnic Area, Angelo Canna Park, Joseph D. Spencer Lane, Cairo NY 12413. NOTE:  Get your 2018 Cairo Bears brochure and head out on a scavenger hunt to find all 50 Cairo Bears to win FREE tickets for our Raffle Bear, Teddy Bear’s Picnic, by Ellen Levinson. Raffle tickets to win this bear will also be available for purchase. Raffle to be held in October at the Cairo Bears Auction and Gala (date and venue TBD). #CairoNYbears

Tuesday, June 5

MEMBERSHIP DRIVE for The Greene County Women’s League Cancer Patient Aid, at their regular monthly meeting held at Ambrosia Diner in Catskill, 12:00noon.  Membership Meetings are held the 1st Tuesday of the month from April through December.  Lunch at 12 noon; meeting called to order at 1pm.  Yearly dues $25.00.  G.C.W.L. is a 501(c)(3) non-for-profit organization providing Greene County Cancer patients with assistance in paying medical expenses.  100% of donations go to patient care.  For more info call 518-819-1249 or visit greenecountywomensleague.com.   We look forward to welcoming new members.

 

Wednesday, June 6

COXSACKIE-ATHENS COMMUNITY BAND will perform at 7:00 pm, at Athens Riverside Park.  Free and open to the public. The band’s programs include marches, classical selections, Broadway selections, jazz arrangements, folk music, popular tunes, etc.  The approximately 50 members includes both amateur and semi-professional musicians from across the region.

BINGO at the Catskill Elks Lodge every Wednesday night throughout the year. Doors open at 5pm; early bird games start at 6:40pm; regular bingo session starts at 7:05pm. Lodge is located at the end of North Jefferson Ave in Jefferson Heights, Catskill.

Thursdays, June 7, 14, 21 & 28; July 5 & 12

FREE ART COURSE – LEARN TO DRAW FROM LIFE, 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm at the Heermance Memorial Library, 1 Ely Street, Coxsackie.  The course will consist of six weekly classes, 2 hours in length.  Open to students 15 years old & up; maximum of 10 students. Appropriate for beginner students but also useful to students of all levels of skill; focusing on portraiture and figure drawing, using a variety of mediums including pencil, charcoal and conte crayon. Basic drawing supplies provided.

NUTMEG SOARING ASSOCIATION’S OPEN HOUSE & FLY-IN at the Freehold Airport, 10am to 3pm at Route 67, one mile west of Rt. 32.  Public is welcome!  See gliders and planes on display, enter drawing for a free glider ride, learn about scholarship program for youngsters, activities for kids, music, paid glider rides, support local Civil Air Patrol for lunch.  Raindate: June 10. ANNUAL GREENE COUNTY YOUTH ACTIVITY & FISHING DERBY DAY at Dutchman’s Landing, Catskill.  Registration begins at 7:30am.  Fishing begins at 9am and ends at noon.  Prizes awarded in two classes, ages 5-10 & 11-15 for largest fish, smallest fist, most fist and largest striper. Kids must be accompanied by an adult.  Bait provided.  Archery display with bow & arrow shooting.  Free hot dogs, hamburgers, water, soda, ice cream. Sponsored by the Greene County Federation of Sportsmen.

ART OF MUSIC  Project – CALL FOR ARTISTS – “The Art of Music Project” from 4 to 7pm at the Coxsackie Riverside Park Farmer’s Market. You don’t need synesthesia to be inspired by music as a visual artist. Join area artists to create musician inspired work, using any medium.
